The goal of this piece of writing is to emphasize some of the
important differences between common conventional national
lottery games and the world famous
El Gordo.
In a conventional lottery game a player is generally
required to pick a series of numbers from a particular
number range as well as an additional bonus number. For
example, in the UK National lottery a player has to choose 6
main numbers from 1-49 inclusive and then a further bonus
number from the same range. To collect the top prize, a
player needs to match all of their six main chosen numbers
with those numbers drawn. If there is no single ticket
matching all the drawn numbers in a given week, the jackpot
is rolled forward to the subsequent week growing in size as
it does so.
The Christmas El Gordo draw is significantly different in
this area; only so many tickets are printed for this draw
and due to this, winners are guaranteed in every draw.
The price you have to pay for a complete El Gordo ticket
(Billete) is also very different from buying a ticket in a
typical lottery game, such as the UK lotto. Buying a ticket
for one UK National lottery draw costs a UK citizen only 1
pound. El Gordo lotto tickets will, however, cost you 200
Euros each. Due to the substantial expense of playing this
lotto game, complete tickets are separated into ten parts
(Decimos) costing a more reasonably priced 20 Euros. It is
consequently quite common for groups of friends or family
members to divide the cost of an entire El Gordo lotto
ticket in order to make the game a more workable
proposition.
In the UK National lotto a very small percentage of people
ever win considerable amounts of cash, with the majority
left disappointed week in week out. The El Gordo lotto on
the other hand gives that winning feeling to a greater
number of people. In the 2006 El Gordo draw, 3 million Euros
were paid out to each of the 180 winning billetes. In the El
Gordo draw of 2005, the winning number was sold in the town
of Vic in Catalonia (population 37,825), whose citizens
shared in the region of 500 million Euros.
The El Gordo lottery also delivers significantly better
chances of collecting a cash win compared to that of the UK
National lotto; with the El Gordo lottery you have a very
nice 1 in 6 chance of picking up a cash win compared to 1 in
52 when participating in the UK National lottery.
When partaking in lotto games like the UK National lotto,
extra lottery tickets are generated every time a pound is
spent which means that tickets never run out for any of the
weekly draws. The El Gordo lottery is completely different
because only a specific quantity of tickets are ever printed
and once they are all sold no more will become available.
The Elgordo not only creates enormous excitement in its
native Spain but now all around the world owing to the ever
increasing amount of online lottery ticket sales agents. It
is therefore imperative that you secure your preferred
quantity of lottery tickets as soon as they are released, to
avoid missing out.
